Excitement and Optimism is the best way to describe the 2010 version of the Griffith Panthers. A combo of youth and veteran leadership are ingredients for a successful season. Pitching is the key to this year's squad. As many as 10 players could see time on the mound this season. Leading the way are senior Jason Short and Jeff Godlewski, while Junior lefty Mike Dobosz will anchor the staff. Senior infielder Jake Evanich, who will attend ISU, will also see time on the mound this season. Freshmen Jesse Smith will look to make an immediate impact as well on the mound. Anchoring the staff is veteran catcher Sam Carter. The future DePauw Tiger will be back for his 3 year on the varsity as a starter and his 4th year as a letter winner. Griffith suffered is first losing season last year in the 11 years that the current coaching staff as been in place finishing 15-16. Of the 16 losses, 8 were by 2 runs or less, so that means that pitching and defense are the focus this preseason.
